The Western Flyers Youth Project offers the following volunteer opportunities:
WFYP actively promotes environmental stewardship. Through our partnership with COPMOBA we bring kids out to trail builds, and maintenance days, Passing on responsibility and respect for our trail system. We have adopted Rustlers loop and Kids meal and are responsible for clean up and maintenance on both trails.
Bike rodeos are WFYP’s premier safety program. These are weekend events offered annually at a handful of local communities. Rodeos include bike safety checks, low cost helmet sales, and road safety courses. Kids can also participate in obstacle courses as well as other bike related games.
The ReCyclery is a volunteer run bike shop that provides a service to the community as well as a way to raise money for our programs. At the ReCyclery, professional bike mechanics volunteer their time to repair and refurbish donated bikes for resale to community members. Kids affiliated with WFYP can earn a bike by volunteering their time working at the ReCyclery under the supervision of the mechanics. The shop also offers bike and helmet safety checks.
WFYP offers supervised outings throughout the year, including rafting, hiking ,fishing, snowshoeing, disc golf, rick climbing and mountain biking. These are typically day trips in the Grand Valley. We are looking for volunteers to help lead trips
